Wordpress : How do I start?

I dabble with making sites but I found a cool template on wordpress that I would like to use.  I don't know how to begin with all of this code that I got.  I know I don't want all of the code on one page because it is too much.  I haven't dealt with php much and I know very little. 
Do you have any advice on where to begin and how to set up all of the code that I got? THANKS!
