Topic: Page Not Found on UsersOnline Page...

I am using the latest version of WP.. and Useronline plugin..

Every time time I visit Usersonline page to see what articles are being visited by the users.. I see "Page not found" against each visitor.

When I mouse over the "URL" link on each visitor I see a link ending with TNE.ico which does not exist.

e.g. http://tnerd.com/2009/02/01/TNE.ico

TNE.ico is favicon file on my site.

Please see the attached screenshot to see what I am talking about!

Sorry I have no idea how to help you on this, it works fine on my site http://lesterchan.net/wordpress/useronline/.

I am making a while guess that it maybe a htaccess issue or a redirection that redirects 404 pages to your site.

Your URL http://tnerd.com/2009/02/01/TNE.ico should not even be linked to WordPress. Note that it loads a 404 page in WordPress and not a 404 page in Apache, that is why the link contains the URL of that.

I have exactly the same problem.
Many of my guests are in a Not Found Page... and always ending with .ico
In this moment that Im wring this post, I have a guest in here:

There is nothing I can do over my end, it looks like a problem with your wordpress or some of the plugins that you used that causes this issue. I do not have problem over at my site.

I am guessing it might related to some post write plugin or even an SEO plugin or perhaps google index your ico file.

I also get most of my users saying Not Found and it is a .ico file.

I can't believe it is a plug-in issue as it's hard to believe all 4 of us with the problems are using the exact same plug-ins.

Apparently looking at a .gif file so I would say there is a problem with this plug-in.

Page not found can be anything, you have to note the URL that it is being captured. It is not really up to me. If WP controls the htaccess, it will redirect to a 404 if it cannot finds the stuff you are looking for.

Note:

http://lesterchan.net/wordpress/favico.ico (404) because there is no such file
http://lesterchan.net/wordpress/images/test.gif (404) because there is no such file as well.

Ok. I didn't have a favicon on for my blog. So I went to: http://www.favicon.cc/

and created one. Uploaded to my Wordpress folder and added the following to my header.php:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.swearingatvideogames.com/favicon.ico" />

Everything appears to be right now with UsersOnline.

If you already have a favicon just make sure the header.php is pointing to it properly for it to be found on ALL your pages.
