All Good Things Must Come To An End

As you all know, I have been doing WordPress plugins and supporting it for the past 6 years. These 6 years of my life, I have been through my polytechnic education, my national service as well as my university education.

I just graduated from university in December 2009 and have been looking for full-time jobs. I am offered a full-time job and will be starting work on 1st February 2010.

I regret to say that I am NOT ABLE to provide support for my plugins anymore due to my full-time job commitment. I will leave this forum open and let the community help one another.

However, I WILL still update my plugins whenever I can and you still can report bugs to me via email and I will try to fix it.

High CPU usage
« on: 28 June 2009, 16:48 »
WordPress Version - 2.8
Theme Name - Atahualpa
Blog URL - http://www.tracyandcarol.com/
Problem Plugin Name And Version - WP-UserOnline 2.50
PHP And MYSQL Version - PHP Version : 5.2.6-3ubuntu4.1, MYSQL Version : 5.0.75-0ubuntu10
Possible Conflicting Plugins (Optional)

When I install and activate the WP-UserOnline plugin, my CPU usage jumps to 100%.  This happens on FF3, but not IE7.  (These are the only 2 browsers I have to test it on)  I've deactivated all of my plugins and re-activated them one-by-one, while monitoring my CPU usage with each activation.  Each time it is WP-UserOnline that makes the  CPU usage jump to 100%.  Any idea what is causing this?

I just deactivated all of my plugins, leaving only WP-UserOnline activated, and am still using 100% CPU.  I then changed to the WP default theme with just WP-UserOnline activated.  No change.  (WP-UserOnline is not activated at this time and I switched back to the Atahualpa theme.)

WP-UserOnline 2.50 is a intensive plugin, but it should not be using 100% CPU at all times, I am using FF3 to test it and it works fine on my end. Try it http://lesterchan.net/wordpress/

You may want to try on a fresh install of WP 2.8 with just WP-UserOnline to see if you still have the same problem.

I changed the "Statistics Type" on the widget and my CPU usage went back to normal.  (I did not realize I had that option or I would've tried that before.)  Thank you for your help.

I am having the same problem, well almost the same. Though my CPU load is not 100%, its close to 25% which is higher than my host limit. Is this normal? I know you said intensive, is it this intensive?

That really depends on how many websites your host is using and what type of server your host is using. Do note that MANY hosts in the US tend to oversell and that may explains the higher than usual load.
