All Good Things Must Come To An End

As you all know, I have been doing WordPress plugins and supporting it for the past 6 years. These 6 years of my life, I have been through my polytechnic education, my national service as well as my university education.

I just graduated from university in December 2009 and have been looking for full-time jobs. I am offered a full-time job and will be starting work on 1st February 2010.

I regret to say that I am NOT ABLE to provide support for my plugins anymore due to my full-time job commitment. I will leave this forum open and let the community help one another.

However, I WILL still update my plugins whenever I can and you still can report bugs to me via email and I will try to fix it.

Automatic backup & optimization date/time messed up?
« on: 02 December 2009, 17:22 »
1. WP 2.8.6
2. Theme Mystique by digitalnature
3. Blog URL *opt not to disclose* (PM)
4. WP-DBManager 2.50
5. PHP 5.2.6-1+lenny4 MySQL 5.0.51a-24+lenny2

My understanding is if you set both for "every 1 day", it is set for next day.

Example, if right now is 12:01AM 2DEC2009 and I save the settings. "Next backup date" and "Next optimize date" should be set to 12:01AM 3DEC2009, but it is not. Instead, it will say 12:01AM 2DEC2009. Which is not the NEXT DAY. Resulting both functions fail to run.

I guess since the date/time is wrong, the condition is never met. Hence it never runs.

I have root SSH access. Let me know if you need any verbose outputs. Thanks!

It will run almost instantly after you click save changes and then the date will be incremented to 12:01AM 3DEC2009

Hi and thanks for the quick reply.

I guess it does not run instantly after I clicked save. Let me know what else I can do.

Manually backup the DB works. Manually e-mail me the gzip file works as well. Thanks again!

Hmm, i have no clue because I just tested it on my localhost, it works fine for me. Regardless of what is the frequency, if you click "Save Changes", it will always run first then increment the current date with your chosen frequency.

You are the first to report this problem so I am guessing it works fine with the other users all these years. Maybe you want to try an alternative plugin like WP-DB-Backup?

Hmm Lets do a testing for you.

In wp-dbmanager.php

Find:
Code: [Select]
wp_schedule_event(time(), 'dbmanager_backup', 'dbmanager_cron_backup');Replace:
Code: [Select]
wp_schedule_event(time()+$backup_options['backup_period'], 'dbmanager_backup', 'dbmanager_cron_backup');
This will not run after you click save changes but at the next time

On line 375 modded to...
wp_schedule_event(time()+$backup_options['backup_period'], 'dbmanager_backup', 'dbmanager_cron_backup');

Line 381 modded to...
wp_schedule_event(time()+$backup_options['optimize_period'], 'dbmanager_optimize', 'dbmanager_cron_optimize');

After I saved, I see the time displaying tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Also, around 6 days ago the backups just stopped running. Everything else works fine, but no backup generated when i save the schedule and the time sets itself as the same day...

It's *probably* fixed in 2.9.1. I will attempt to upgrade my instance and see.
