All Good Things Must Come To An End

As you all know, I have been doing WordPress plugins and supporting it for the past 6 years. These 6 years of my life, I have been through my polytechnic education, my national service as well as my university education.

I just graduated from university in December 2009 and have been looking for full-time jobs. I am offered a full-time job and will be starting work on 1st February 2010.

I regret to say that I am NOT ABLE to provide support for my plugins anymore due to my full-time job commitment. I will leave this forum open and let the community help one another.

However, I WILL still update my plugins whenever I can and you still can report bugs to me via email and I will try to fix it.

I'm having a similar problem (among many others)...

When I change the mysqldump and mysql paths under the "Database Options" tab it doesnt seem to have any effect. How do I change the path?

Please Rectify The Error Highlighted In Red Before Proceeding On.

Note: The checking of backup status is still undergoing testing, it may not be accurate.

We checked and everything seems fine.

[root@venus ~]# which mysqldump
/usr/bin/mysqldump

WP-DBManager it works well even if you do not find the path mysql ...? ignoring the error ...?

The script may not have access to check for the path on some servers and hence the error. As long as it runs fine, no worries =)

WP-DBManager     2.31

I have the same problem, the path to mysql is definintely /usr/bin/, I've done the which command and I've looked in the file manager and both mysql and mysqldump are in /usr/bin/

But it says:

Quote
MYSQL dump path does NOT exist. Please check your mysqldump path under DB Options.

I ignore the error but it won't do the backup.

Database Version is v5.0.45. I just moved to a new host, there are a few other things that are not working right as well, so... I asked the support there, they said talk to the third party developer...

System is

CPU  -   AuthenticAMD, Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2214 HE
Version  -   psa v8.6.0_build86080722.00 os_CentOS 5
OS -   Linux 2.6.9-023stab046.2-entnosplit
PHP_VERSION   5.1.6

Do you have permission to run it? Try if you can backup using shell, http://codex.wordpress.org/Backing_Up_Your_Database#Using_Straight_MySQL_Commands

Hi Lester, I can backup via shell no problem, I just find your plugin more convenient.

Might it have anything to do with User:Group ownership because I had problems with that when I moved my files into the new server?

Or in Plesk I haven't given enough permissions to the "Client" which runs the domain?

Hmm, i am not so sure about that part as I am not using Plesk, but I don't think it is a Plesk issue unless Plesk also controls mysqldump or mysql. You may want to try http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/ as that plugin is using phpmyadmin way of backing up rather than shell access and hence it should not have any permission issue.

I'm also getting the path error, but it seems to be performing the backups anyway.

Check to ensure that the backup is valid by opening them.

Not sure how to make sure if it's valid, don't really know what a valid one would look like.  :-X Definitely got a lot of stuff in there though, I'll email my host and see what the proper path should be.

Ok just got the reply. He disabled the php opendir for my account and it's all green now.  :D

Yeah, I'm getting the same error - but it seems to backup fine.
It would be nice if when it does the first backup, if its successful, mark something to override the error so everything is green.

It is hard to determine whether the backup is successful or not using a script as the file may get some contents itside that is not the data.
