All Good Things Must Come To An End

As you all know, I have been doing WordPress plugins and supporting it for the past 6 years. These 6 years of my life, I have been through my polytechnic education, my national service as well as my university education.

I just graduated from university in December 2009 and have been looking for full-time jobs. I am offered a full-time job and will be starting work on 1st February 2010.

I regret to say that I am NOT ABLE to provide support for my plugins anymore due to my full-time job commitment. I will leave this forum open and let the community help one another.

However, I WILL still update my plugins whenever I can and you still can report bugs to me via email and I will try to fix it.

Hello,

At the present time, I had to deactivate the wp-ban plugin, because, while my traffic growth forced me to resort to using the wp-supercache plugin, it proved to be partially incompatible with wp-ban.

More precisely : with the two plugins active at the same time, random users will be shown the ban page on random occasions. Quite often, it seems. Not respecting the wp-ban rules.
It seems the ban rules (by IP, hostname etc...) are not respected anymore, the cached ban page being shown randomly, no matter the IP or hostname of the visitors.

Both these plugins are really, really useful, and in my case, really, really needed, so do you think, Gamerz, there is a possibility you could find a way to make these two plugins capable of working together ? Or would you know what wp-supercache setting to update to make it compatible ?

I know that supercache is the culprit, and it is not your plugin, however I received no reply from the supercache plugin writer, so I'm asking you just in case.
I have read somewhere you can take custom developments in exchange of money, I still have roughly 50$ left on my paypal account, if that can convince you to magically produce a supercache compatible wp-ban plugin, Gamerz, they're yours :)

Best regards,
Sabin

I added to this a paypal donation (same username as this forum), I had been waiting for fresh money to make it to my account. You deserve it :)

WP-DBManager / Just expressing my thanks :)
« on: 13 June 2009, 08:00 »
The database of my blog has grown so much (21.5 MB uncompressed, 4.5 MB compressed) that phpmyadmin is now incapable of handling such a large file, forcing me to save my database tables after tables.
I also tried a php  script to export/load my database into/from a gzip file, but because of php limitations, the backing up stopped before everything was saved.

And it's at this point I discovered wp-dbmanager, a wonderful plugin that managed without a sweat to restore my whole database in two seconds when I needed it...

I am really grateful, Gamerz, for your superb plugins, and especially for dbmanager, you have my sincere gratitude :)

Really ?

Oh, my mistake then, I thought I had read somewhere it didn't affect the blog feed.

Thanks for the clarification, then !  :D

WP-Ban / Suggestion : have WP-ban also affect the blog's feed
« on: 10 February 2009, 11:48 »
Hello,

I would have a suggestion : that WP-ban would also prevent sending the RSS feed's content to computers belonging to the ban list.

Unless I am mistaken, at the present time, even if wp-ban allows to block showing our website to the banned computers, they can still receive the contents of our websites through the RSS feed. I think banning them from accessing the feed would be logical.

Of course if they use 3rd party services like feedburner that would be another problem (unless we want to ban the feedburner domain), but at least blocking direct access would be a good start.

What do you think of it, GamerZ ?

I'm not rolling on gold, but if you think this kind of thing is not a priority but you still add the function to your plugin this in exchange of a small payment, I can do that. I could also see it as a "thank you !" for all your plugins I've been using since two years :o

Have a sunny day,
Sabin
